Forest of the World

Forest of the World
We are incredibly proud of our collaboration with Forests of the World. Forest of the World is a Danish NGO with over 30 years of experience in environmental conservation work focusing on the world's forests and ensuring increased biodiversity. In Uganda, Forests of the World has a project where they are trying to regenerate a forest in a corridor where elephants once passed. Today, many of the local community clear the forest area because they need space for their cattle. To stop this deforestation, Forests of the World has introduced the locals to vanilla production as an alternative source of income for cattle. As part of the elephant corridor project, Forest of the World has also developed an intercropping method with vanilla, cocoa and macadamia nuts. With this method, small-scale farmers can increase their income by making money on several cash crops at a time. In addition, this method also creates increased biodiversity. At Social Vanilla, we think this project is fantastic. We have committed to buying the vanilla produced by the farmers from the elephant corridor area and expect to buy vanilla from them in December 2021. Because of all the potential that Forest of the World's intercropping model has, we have integrated it into our farmer training.
